In this step, we will be turning off the Internet Explorer (IE) Security in the Remote Desktop. This is an important step because the IE Enhanced Security prevents the server from receiving the web-based content. This step is essential as the process of standing up the ArcGIS Server and Portal is completed in a web-based format.

First, open the Server Manager application and find the local server option. Then go into the IE Enhanced Security Configuration and turn the settings to 'OFF' for both the Administrators and Users of the remote desktop.

Steps to Turn Off IE Enhanced Security

  • Open the Server Manager Application from the Start Menu

  • From the left menu, select 'Local Server'

  • Turn 'OFF' the IE Enhanced Security Configuration for both 'Administrators' and 'Users'

Close Server Manager

With IE Enhanced Security now switched off, it's time to ensure Windows Service is set to auto.
