Step 9: Activate License for Portal (Software Authorization)

Learn how to activate your license for Portal in the Remote Desktop through the Software Authorization Wizard.

Now that your Provisioning Files have been downloaded, it's time to put these downloads to use.

Open the "Portal for ArcGIS Authorization" application found on your Desktop. Once the Software Authorization Wizard has opened, select the "Second Authorization" option to browse for the Provisioning File that you downloaded from My Esri, then click 'Next'. The following screen outlines your Level 1 and Level 2 Authorization Numbers for Portal. Click 'Next' and continue the process by selecting "No Extensions At This Time", then finish the Wizard.

Steps to Activate the License for Portal

  • Find License File Download from My Esri Account

  • Open Portal for ArcGIS Authorization from Desktop, select second authorization option

  • Select the ArcGIS Server Key Downloaded from My Esri

  • Select the first Authorization Method

  • Then select 'No Extensions At This Time'

  • Choose 'No Extensions'

  • Select 'Finish' to complete the process

After successfully activating the license for Portal, it's time to activate the license for ArcGIS Server.
